Teatro Ricerche is a cultural association founded in 1992 and formerly recognized by MiBACT (Ministry for Cultural Assets and Activities and Tourism). It is also member of SAT Directive Board, which is an NGO, UNESCO Consultant for the Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage (Safeguarding of Traditions), which organizes and patronizes the activities of the “National Committee for the Promotion of Commedia dell’Arte”.

It organized the IVth edition of Commedia dell’Arte World Day in Istanbul, 2013.

Mario Gallo (Chairman of Teatro Ricerche) is an author, actor and stage director, mask maker, he owns a deep pedagogical and educational experience, acquired throughout more than 27 years of theatre educational activities and performance projects concerning Innovative Commedia dell’Arte and aimed at promoting and developing Italian theatre culture in schools and in contemporary society. The projects were produced for Italian and international institutions: European Community; Ministry for Education, University and Research; Ministry for Cultural Assets and Activities; Hellenic Republic Ministry of Education; Secondary Education Eastern Attica Education & Theatre Department; Italian Cultural Institute in Athens; Theatre Education Network of Hellenic Teachers, Athens; Italian Cultural Institute in Thessaloniki; Municipal Theatre and University of Corfu; Cervantes Institute, Rome – Naples; Spanish Embassy – Spanish Cultural Office; Theatre of Inspirations, London; University of Kocaeli and çagdas drama dernesi, Turkey; Istanbul University; Italian Cultural Institute in Istanbul; Tiyatro Barbone in Istanbul, Università degli Studi Gabriele D’Annunzio di Chieti, Dipartimento di Lettere Arti e Scienze Sociali, Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Montevideo – Uruguay

He received the following awards:

  • Premio Calandra 2006 Tuglie (Lecce) as Best Actor (Harlequin) with his show “Arlecchino e Madre fame” (Harlequin and Mother Hunger);
  • Premio Fedic Valdarno Cinema 1998 for the short “Il Mondo” (The World)
  • Critics’ award 1996 at XIVth National Festival “Theatre in Schools”, Serra San Quirico, for the work “The Class”, an educational project on Commedia dell’Arte for children.
